Carrying a Gun can provide self-defense

I have personally carried a concealed firearm all my life and never had to use it, but it sure made me feel comfortable several times.

From Here:

I can't help but wonder why any time anyone mentions carrying a gun, it's automatically a bad idea. The conversation came up recently when I asked if a kidnapped person had been carrying a gun.

It is still one of our constitutional rights, you know. It has been since the beginning of this country. Why is it such an immoral question to ask if she was armed?

Even though there are now limits to places you can carry a gun, carrying one, and knowing how to use one, is never a bad idea. I'm sure criminals would find others a little more difficult to rob or rape if that someone were armed.

According to the National Rifle Association, the U.S. Department of Justice found that 40 percent of felons chose not to commit at least some crimes for fear their victims were armed, while 34 percent admitted having been scared off or shot at by armed victims. It's verifiable proof - you don't even have to shoot it to lower crime rates - just having one lessens your chances of being assaulted.

The NRA also reported that states with right-to-carry laws "have lower violent crime rates on average: 22 percent lower total violent crime, 30 percent lower murder, 46 percent lower robbery and 12 percent lower aggravated assault."

This is why I think carrying a gun is a good idea, and I'm not just talking about women - the reason the argument originally occurred.

I'm not suggesting we "posse up" and ride into the sunset after all of the criminals in Georgia. I'm not even saying that if someone sticks a gun in your car window at a stoplight and asks for your wallet, you shouldn't give it to them.

I would, however, be damn sure they didn't make it out of sight with my wallet.

Carrying a gun doesn't mean we should all "Wild, Wild West"-it and duel out all of our problems.

But, we've got just as much right to own and carry a firearm as we do to print this newspaper. So, if I or anyone else wants to own or carry a gun, then that's our right.

If someone dies of a bullet wound from my gun, it will only be because I felt my life threatened with no other option. I like living, and I'm not looking to try the alternative anytime soon.

In the end we'll all be judged the same, and I'm sure He'll understand why I pulled the trigger.

A wise man told me recently that he'd rather be judged by 12, than carried by six. This has been my philosophy for as long as I can remember, I'd just never heard it spoken so well.

Rite Aid's Policy on Fallen Soldiers

Update: posted at bottom.....

I received this article through the "Patriot Guard Riders" on how Rite Aid thinks of our fallen soldiers in the war on terrorism. I have had some comments here that wasn't very well received and they apparently didn't read this first part where I had posted the article about the Mason family of which I am not a part of that family, but only posted what they had told us here.

Rite Aid Corporation policy concerning Fallen Soldier Cpl Christopher E. Mason - “is no different than someone’s house burning down”

(January 8, 2008) Cpl Chris Mason's mother told Rite Aid's policy concerning the lost of her son “is no different than someone’s house burning down” by Rite Aid Regional Human Resources Manager, while our oldset son still serving in Iraq.

The mother of Cpl Chris Mason (Pictured above placing her hand upon a photo of our son).

Cpl Christopher E. Mason, pictured above, killed in an Al Qaeda ambush 28 Nov 2006 while moving into position to support his fellow Paratroopers.

Freedom Is Not Free
My wife and I stand at our son's grave site 02-20-2007. Rite Aid management states “Is no different than someone’s house burning down.”

After several months of recovering from the death of our youngest son Chris, his mom returned to her position at Rite Aid, she had been working there as a Cashier for a little over seven years before Chris’s death .

Upon receiving her first pay check she noticed Rite Aid had not placed her back at the level of pay she was earning at the time of our son's death (Rite Aid was docking her pay .10 cents an hour). She spoke with management and they told her it would be fixed by Rite Aid's Human Resources Department.

Christmas Eve arrived and she chose to work the holiday so others could be home with their children. After she recieved her check for the pay period she discovered she had not been paid for working the holiday (overtime amounting to no more than 15.00 dollars). Turns out Rite Aid was docking her for leaving her position to recover from the lost of our son, and was told that no “Associate” working for Rite Aid is paid for for working on a holiday after they quit and then get rehired “no matter what the reason.” Apparently Rite Aid wrote off her seven years with the company prior to Chris's death in The War on Terrorism.

A few days passed and Chris's mom decided to contact Rite Aid's Regional Human Resources Manger (he is the one that stated Rite Aid's policy "No -Cashier- gets hoilday pay no matter what the reason”). She wanted to explain to him why she had to leave her job. She wanted to share with him that she could not get the image of her baby lying in the street, being shot and dying, needing her to help him and her not being there for him, out of her mind. She just wanted to explain, that is all she wanted to do, but she never stood a chance. He put her on the defense, forcing her to defend her position, it became a game for him. She tells me she is not sure of everything that he said because after the following statement she was so stressed she locked him out, but she cannot get this part out of her head, it wakes her up at night.

After the Human resourcs Manager snickered at her this is what Chris's mother said to him:

Chris’s mom: "Sir you are talking to the mother of a Fallen Soldier; my son was killed in the War on Terrorism"

Human Resources Manager replied: Rite Aid's policy is “That’s no different then someone’s house burning down”

Chris's mom quick her job at Rite Aid (Jan 10 2008) and is once again having a tough time with Chris' death, and she is not sleeping at night..... the Human resources Manager still has his position within Rite Aid. The CEO, Mary Sammons, was contacted by phone (Jan 11 2008) and email (Jan 8 2008) concerning Rite Aid's policy, but she gave no response.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I ask that you share it with others so they will know the policy of some companies in this country are the same as they were back during the Vietnam war, yes how some
people consider the lost of our Warriors in combat “no different than someone’s house burning down” is beyond my understanding.

Rite Aid has agreed to a donation of $10,000.00 dollars to the “Wounded Warriors Foundation” in the name of Cpl. Christopher Edward Mason…. They are issuing letters of apology to Chris’ mother, I (his Father), and his brother who is still serving in Iraq….. The Human Resources Manager that spoke the hateful comment about Chris’s death is now receiving the maximum disciplinary action allowed under Rite Aid’s guidelines.

Urgent News 4 Bloggers Everywhere

The terrible news about the upcoming arrest of Lionheart UK reached my inbox in the wee hours of Friday, January 4, 2008:
Hi AOW

I just wanted to let you know that I am being arrested by the British police because of my blog.
As Pamela stated in her post on the topic at Atlas Shrugs,
[Lionheart] has been a warrior on the war on the jihad in the UK and exposed the drug running that funded Islamic jihad in Britain and posted on the tsunami of sharia enveloping his beloved country. The Brits have submitted to Islam and they mean to shut down anyone who speaks for freedom, justice and liberty. Silencing the daring truth tellers...."Hate speech" legislation is the club the political elites will wield to club us into submission.
From Lionheart's first post on the charges against him:
I am currently out of the Country and on my return home to England I am going to be arrested by British detectives on suspicion of Stirring up Racial Hatred by displaying written material" contrary to sections 18(1) and 27(3) of the Public Order Act 1986.

This charge if found guilty carries a lengthy prison sentence, more than what most paedophiles and rapists receive, and all for writing words of truth about the barbarity that is living in the midst of our children, which threatens the very future of our Country.

What has become of my homeland, the land my forefathers fought and died for on the battlefields of the world when one of their children is forced into the position of facing years in prison for standing up for what is right and just within British society.

[...]

This arrest and potential imprisonment is what now awaits me at the start of 2008, and this is what now awaits every other blogger in Great Britain who writes the truth about the modern war that is now unfolding against us, our children and the British homeland by the State (Labour government) sanctioned and protected enemy that is living in our midst - The Islamic Kingdom.
Go read it all. And, for as long as Lionheart can continue to post, read the subsequent posts as well by visiting new posts at the top of his home page.

COPY THIS POST AND/OR LINK BACK TO IT. SEND OUT EMAILS TO YOUR FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTENANCES. GET THE WORD OUT AS TO WHAT'S HAPPENING TO LION HEART UK!

Additional information: The Gathering Storm Radio Show's interview with Lion Heart UK (first half hour). We plan another interview with Lion Heart on January 18, 2008. Listen to the voice which is about to be silenced!

Bishop warns of no-go zones for non-Muslims

From here: Telegraph,

Nislam106 Islamic extremists have created "no-go" areas across Britain where it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter, one of the Church of England's most senior bishops warns today.

The Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester and the Church's only Asian bishop, says that people of a different race or faith face physical attack if they live or work in communities dominated by a strict Muslim ideology.

The Muslim Council of Britain today described his comments as "frantic scaremongering", while William Hague, the shadow foreign secretary, said the bishop had "probably put it too strongly".

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said the idea of no-go areas was "a gross caricature of reality".

Writing in The Sunday Telegraph, Bishop Nazir-Ali compares the threat to the use of intimidation by the far-Right, and says that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Christianity to be the nation's public religion in a multifaith, multicultural society.

His comments come as a poll of the General Synod - the Church's parliament - shows that its senior leaders, including bishops, also believe that Britain is being damaged by large-scale immigration.

Bishop Nazir-Ali, who was born in Pakistan, gives warning that attempts are being made to give Britain an increasingly Islamic character by introducing the call to prayer and wider use of sharia law, a legal system based on the Koran. (continue reading)

MS-13 vandals deface Vietnam memorial

If our government is going to allow this to continue, maybe it's getting close for American citizens to take care of this problem as it seems to be escalating to a boiling point!

Vandals claiming a relationship to the violent Hispanic street gang MS-13 defaced a Vietnam War memorial in Connecticut with graffiti, angering local veterans.

"Kill whites MS 13" were among the threatening words spray-painted on the Vietnam War Memorial at Long Wharf, Conn., reported WTNH-TV in New Haven.

"This irks me. This hurts me deep to my heart," Vietnam Army veteran Emery Linton Sr. told the station.

Linton, who served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1972, noted he lost friends there and called the mess on the memorial a slap in the face to veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

"People here respect these names. They gave their lives for everything, for the freedoms they have," Linton said.

Police are investigating whether the vandalism is the work of the violent MS-13 gang.

As WND reported, the El Salvador-based MS-13 operates in 44 U.S. states, according to the FBI.

WND reported as early as 1995 the gang reportedly was meeting with representatives of al-Qaida and smuggling operatives into the United States from Mexico.

An attorney prosecuting MS-13 members said the gang follows the "rape, kill and control" philosophy," using guns, knives and machetes. The group traffics in drugs, weapons and humans. Last summer, police in the Boston area conducted a major round-up of MS 13 members.

New Haven police told WTNH they have not documented any MS-13 activity in the city.

Another veteran said she was heartbroken over the vandalism.

"I don't know who would want to do this," Lori Grenfell told the New Haven station. "They have the right to say what they want to say. They can thank these guys for that right."

Linton had a message for the perpetrators.

"If it is a gang related thing, and if you guys really think you're bad, join the service, get in the action and see what it's really like," she said.

Members of the New Haven County Vietnam Veterans Group vowed to clean up the mess.
