NAACP Disrespects George Washington at MLK Rally in South Carolina

George Washington statue is hidden at the MLK rally in Columbia, SC

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse. Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington. This year, the NAACP constructed a “box” to conceal the Father of His Country from view so that participants would not be offended by his presence.
I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this picture of the MLK Day rally in Columbia, South Carolina yesterday.  This rally was sponsored by the NAACP and they said that they covered the statue because they “didn’t want to offend anyone”.  Really?  George Washington is the father of this nation.  How is he offensive to anyone?  Can you imagine what would happen if we covered the statue of Dr. King on President’s Day?  Of course, this disgusting display of anti-Americanism wasn’t covered at all by the national media and only the local paper in Columbia had a little piece on it.  It has been covered a little by the blog-world and I think the word needs to get out to the general public that this is what the NAACP is all about…..militant, hateful and racist.  In doing this, they disrespected Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  I bet he would be equally disgusted.  Awful.

How is he offensive? Well, he owned slaves.

Maybe people celebrating MLK day don't want a statue of a slave owner standing over them, even if he did found a nation that their ancestors were brought to by force.

Maybe they should have sought another place to hold the rally if they didn't want to offend anyone as it seemed to me that people that wants to keep our history intact was offended. That's the problem with our society today is that we have people that wants to erase our countries history!

Q: Did Washington free his slaves?
A: Yes. Washington's attitude towards slavery changed as he grew older and especially as he fought for liberty in the Revolution. He emancipated his slaves in his will and his estate paid pensions to the older African Americans for decades. Is the NAACP people the only people who get so offended at most every thing? What about all the other nationalities? My ancestors were dispaced, their land taken by force which resulted in The Trail of Tears. We didn't have any mansions, slaves, mint juleps.I would never think of covering a statue of MLK because I thought it "might" offend someone. Those who might get offended at Washinton's statue need to get over it! How long are you going to use that "poor me"line. Lincoln freed the slaves so why are we still having to deal with this old refrain.Rewriting history "ain't" going to happen no matter how much you would love to rewrite it. I don't go around telling every body how my ancestors had their land taken from them...why must you harp on what is now old history and have equal rights as should be.Those that go on and on about Africa and they are African-Americans.98% have neven been to Africa...you did not suffer any thing...it was your forebears. But I don't walk around telling every body how bad the Native Americans were treated. So why can't we all get along? I live in a town where we have never had any black/white problems.

Is there any thing the NAACP and others don't get offended about? Your race got their freedom and they have equal rights...what more do they want?To this very day they want more, more, more.I'm of Native American origin. Remember the Trail of Tears and my ancestors got their land taken away.Well, you don't hear my nationality crying about it all the time. It's well past time to get OVER this, people. That is in the past. Can't you think of today and your future? It seems you had rather live in the past which is a waste of time. Do something with your lives...you have the same rights and chances we all do.MLK didn't give his life for his people only to here in 2011still having his own race trying to keep trying to rewrite America's history. That's not what he was about.Get real.

Let me remind all on this website that the American people did not bring the African people to America. African's sold and traded the African people as slave's and found it to be quite lucrative and so it began.
