Thirteen percent of Alabama's bridges are classified by federal officials as structurally deficient, the same designation as the bridge that fell Wednesday in Minneapolis.There are 15,827 bridges in Alabama controlled by state, county and city governments, federal records show, and 2,101 of those are structurally deficient.

13 percent of Alabama's bridges 'structurally deficient'
I took a look at some of the bridges listed in the link in my area and found that some I drive across all the time are listed as structurally deficient which makes you wonder if it might fall while driving across.

I heard on the news this morning that the Gov. of Minneapollis blames the falling of the bridge on Bush and his war on terror!! He's spent so much on this war and nothing else matters! HA!
Exactly where do tax dollars come into play? ...Just another blame game.

More than likely some of this is a result of the pols in DC using road and bridge money for their pork barrel projects, some of which are so far out as it's ridiculous.
